The Psychedelic Furs dropped their first full studio album in nearly 30 years! And it sounds frickin' phenomenal! Top to bottom I already have fallen in love with it. For your sampling pleasure here is the opening track, 'The Boy That Invented Rock & Roll'.

This week is a special one for me. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are the soundtrack to my life. His music was there during my formative years, during my adolescence, my teenage years, high school, college, cross country moves to Los Angeles and back to New England. He was there for good times and bad times. Graduations, breakups, new beginnings, and sometimes his music was just there holding space for me while I figured out what my life was all about. Yes, his music is extremely personal to me and I'm very excited to share with you ten of my favorite underrated and under-appreciated songs from his 70's and 80's classic era.

Emptying The Vault continues the tradition of following up the regular show featuring a new artist with a follow up episode featuring a Smörgåsbord of bands and musicians that also begin with the same letter. Following up last weeks The Offspring episode here are 10 songs from artists/bands represented by the letter 'O'that I may not have been able to get to on the regular show. This is quite an eclectic batch of songs on this weeks show ranging from 80's Electronica, 70's heavy metal, 50's rockabilly, and many genres in between. Something for everybody!!!

Welcome to episode #18 of the ABC's of Rock. This week we move on to the letter O and representing our favorite circular letter is none other than California Skate Punk/Pop-Punk band, The Offspring. As always this podcast isn't here to celebrate the hits and singles, but to dive deep into their catalogue and to curate songs that aren't radio or concert staples. Every album is represented on this podcast from their early hardcore punk days, to the far leanings into pop-punk...it's all here and everything in between with of course my running commentary for each song.

This week I tackle the great white whale of underrated bands, the New York Dolls. Got to play some classic songs from their two amazing albums from the 70's, then the 2nd half the episode selections from their three reunion albums that I personally feel are can't miss gems. All in all, a collection of 10 songs that just don't get the respect they deserve from a band that is criminally underrated. Hopefully someday they Rock and Roll HOF will come calling, but I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime, enjoy this hour of rock and roll that just can't be beat!

I'm attempting a little bit of a format change going forward to save my sanity. Every other week I will be progressing through the alphabet as I have been. However, every other week will be an episode such as this. This episode I will be "emptying the vault" sharing with you underrated and under-appreciated songs from bands/musicians that start with the letter M. It's a great way for me both conserve some energy for the big letter themed shows, plus it's an opportunity to play some really awesome music from artists that typically I couldn't play on the regular show.

This week I tackle another heavy metal giant, Metallica. However, I decided to focus on their early career from Kill 'Em All up through The Black Album focusing on songs that I are (at least compared to others during this era) less celebrated but equally amazing.

When I decided on Huey Lewis and the News for this episode I thought it was going to be a cake walk. But I really got into it way more than I ever imagined I would. Especially since their later catalogue (post Fore!) is so ignored. As usual I discard the hits and dig deep, waaayyyy deep into albums like Four Chords, Plan B, Soulsville, and their recent album, Weather. Not to mention a couple amazing tracks off their mostly ignored debut self-titled album. It's a fun episode that I got to enjoy with my favorite co-host, my daughter Chloe who rocked out in the studio with me as we listened and talked about the songs. Thanks for listening!

I call an audible this week. Instead of recording a show for the letter M. I ask the Facebook and Twitter-verse to send me music requests that support Peace, Love, and Tolerance for each other. We are living a very difficult time right now with a global pandemic, civil unrest, protesting, rioting, and a country more divided than ever. This podcast includes 10 songs that were requested from listeners of the show to raise our spirits and lift our souls. Thank you to Dave, Patti, Robin, Indy, Judy, Bethany, Rachel, Alyssa, and Mike for your requests.
